Quaker Week – 4th to 11th October 2008 – falling within the Mole Valley Arts Alive Festival makes an ideal opportunity for Dorking Friends to welcome visitors to the meeting house on Butter Hill.
We hope all our visitors will feel welcome, and enjoy the tea and cake that accompany most Quaker activities. But mostly, we welcome you to see who else uses the Meeting House. All the exhibitions are free, but of course there will be a bowl at the door, if you feel like giving towards Quaker work for peace and justice, and respect for the world we live in.
Saturday 4th October
Over 20 groups use our rooms for their meetings, and 10 or more of them are showing an exhibition of what they do. Join in the activities they have ready, for all ages! See and experiment with Butterflies, Embroidery, Radios, Tye-dying and much more.
Fascinating images, painted by local artists who meet at the Meeting House. Photography and the inner journey: Friends give you some thoughts that their photographs have inspired – picture and writing together.
Sculpture for inside and the garden, all for sale, and showing the originality of our Friend Jericho’s work at the Blue Idol meeting house.
Refresh the soul, by seeing how Quakers are involved in the arts; and refresh the body with tea and cake. Bring all the family.

An early evening concert of classical guitar music will be lead by Fiona Harrison, professional performance guitarist and teacher. She will be holding a workshop for her advanced adult students in the afternoon (to which the public is not invited), and in the early evening there will be a concert.
Solos, duos and guitar ensembles, performed in the calm of the wood-panelled meeting house, will soothe, stimulate and excite. Catch some musical moments after your shopping, and before your evening starts.
